SEXTO DIA LEE TODO EL COMENTARIO

JOB 7:1-4, 6-7

El libro de Job hace la misma pregunta hoy así como lo hizo en su tiempo. La pregunta es: “¿Por qué sufre el hombre justo?” Delante del poder inmenso de Dios, Job permanece mudo, simplemente por que el ser humano es demasiado débil e ignorante para comprender la grandeza de Dios. Lo que El quiere es la humildad del hombre, no su orgullo y sabiduría. Sin embargo, en tiempos de Job el Antiguo Testamento enseñaba que el sufrimiento es el resultado del pecado, y la felicidad es el resultado de la virtud.

La historia de Job es la de un hombre virtuoso que sufre tremendamente. Vemos en los comentarios de Job un desasosiego y frustración pero no lo vemos negar sus creencias. Mas adelante vemos una determinación edificada en la fe que se esfuerza en creer que Dios se preocupa amorosamente de él a pesar de todas las apariencias. Job estaba luchando y llegó a no ver esperanza en seguir adelante en sus condiciones enfermizas pero aun así no se dio por vencido.

Hoy se nos dice que “todas las cosas pasan para el bien de los que creen” (Romanos 8:28), y creemos que en el tiempo que Dios crea conveniente una persona virtuosa será feliz. Como Job, debemos aceptar el orden divino del plan de Dios. Somos personas que no sabemos la razón última de la existencia del sufrimiento. Tú y yo tenemos que tener la misma determinación que Job tenía y Dios, a su tiempo, nos ayudará, como lo hizo con Job. (1 Pedro 5:7)

Vemos en el relato de Job una lección para todos nosotros y es, que no creceremos sin sufrimiento. Se nos ha dicho que el sufrimiento trae la obediencia (Hebreos 5:8) y la obediencia es el meollo del amor. Jesús pasó todos sus sufrimientos por nosotros y en Su obediencia fue a la cruz por nosotros. Después resucitó de entre los muertos por nosotros para que todo el que crea en El sea libre en Espíritu y con El para siempre.

 

1 CORINTIOS 9:16-19, 22-23

En la lectura de hoy vemos que el don y el llamado de Pablo era la predicación. Nos dice que él no podía dejar de predicar aun cuando quisiera hacerlo.Como en los dos hombres del camino hacia Emaús, así también había fuego en el corazón de Pablo (Lucas 24:32). El deseaba hacer lo que Dios quería y usó sus dones para gloria de Dios. ¿Nos hemos dado cuenta nosotros de cuáles son los dones que Dios nos ha dado? ¿Estamos motivados como Pablo? ¿Hay un fuego ardiente dentro de nuestro corazón que glorifique a Dios por medio de nuestros dones?

Pablo nos dice que él está contento de no tener la obligación de quien recibe salario. Su libertad de predicar le permite ser el esclavo de todos de modo que todos oigan y vengan a Cristo. Reflexionemos hasta donde es nuestro trabajo el que dicta cuanto practicaremos nuestra fe. ¿Somos capaces y estamos listos para decir que no hay trabajo, ni salario, ni presión de los amigos que nos contenga de predicar y vivir la Santa Palabra de Dios? La meta de Pablo era glorificar a Dios y traer gente a Cristo. ¿Es tambien esa nuestra meta?

Pablo nos demuestra que debemos estar muy atentos para ver en que circunstancias se encuentra la gente y encontrarnos con ellos justamente ahí. El no trata de hacer que la gente se encuentre en un lugar preciso antes de atraerlos hacia Cristo. Pablo supo quién era él y debido a eso fue capaz de encontrar a la gente en un plano común. Necesitamos saber quienes somos nosotros antes de salir a traer a otros a Cristo.

Tú eres la razón de que Jesucristo muriera en la cruz en el Calvario. El te quiere tanto que tomó todos tus pecados y los clavó con El en la cruz. El murió para que tu puedas vivir para siempre. El resucitó para que tu estés con El toda la eternidad. Eres un hijo muy amado de Dios, y cualquier otra cosa es falsedad. Porque eres amado eres capaz de amar a otros y traerlos a Cristo. Como Pablo, deja que el fuego ardiente de tu corazón te lleve adelante y hagas discípulos de todas las naciones (Mateo 28:19).

 

MARCOS 1:29-39

El Evangelio de hoy nos muestra el poder curativo de Jesús hacia alguien que El conoce y hacia todo un pueblo que no conocía. Jesús tocó a la suegra de Pedro y ésta se alivio inmediatamente, se levantó y empezó a servirles. El impacto de este suceso se esparcía por todo el pueblo y al atardecer los alrededores de la casa de Pedro estaban llenos de enfermos y endemoniados. Una multitud observaba mientras los enfermos eran sanados.

Hoy Jesús nos cura tan vívidamente como siempre pero por alguna razón parece no tener un papel importante en nuestras comunidades. Mucha gente tiene miedo de pedir a Jesús que los cure pues no estan seguros de que El lo hará. La gente que corrío hacia la casa de Pedro no tenía miedo de lo que otros pudieran pensar de su fervor religioso. Sabían que las ceremonias y los rituales no curaban pero que este increíble predicador de Dios sí lo hacía.

En el mundo de hoy, con la alta tecnología y educación, parece que dependemos mas de la habilidad del hombre para resolver nuestros mas profundos problemas sean emocionales, físicos o espirituales. Y sin embargo tenemos mas hambre, soledad, enfermedad, divorcio, crimen y violencia que en otros tiempos desde el comienzo de la civilización. Como la suegra de Pedro, debemos confiar en Jesús para ser curados, aceptarlo y continuar nuestras vidas.

Vemos a Jesús levantarse antes del amanecer para orar a solas. El necesitaba Su tiempo a solas cada mañana y nosotros también. El tiempo de oración de Jesús fue la piedra angular de Su autoridad. Estaba en constante oracion con Su Padre y de El sacó Sus fuerzas. ¿De quién sacas tú tus fuerzas? Si es de alguna persona, programa o religion eventualmente estarás agotado. Tenemos la bendición de tener la presencia de Cristo en nuestro tiempo de oración, en los sacramentos, adoración, Eucaristía y en nuestra iglesia a traves de la confraternidad. Jesús dijo que tenia que ir a otros lugares para llevar Su mensaje a los enfermos y endemoniados. Estás llamado, debido a tu bautismo a hacer lo mismo (Mateo 28:19). Recuerda siempre que la oración es la unión vital entre Dios y nosotros. Jesus siempre tomó tiempo para hacer oración.

 

Aplicación

La primera lectura nos dice que el sufrimiento está tanto detrás de la virtud como del pecado. La segunda lectura revela que tus dones y talentos vienen de Dios. Vemos en el Evangelio la importancia que Jesús daba en su vida a la oración.

Esta semana, escoge a alguien de tu familia o a alguien que conozcas y hazte su compañero especial de oración sin que éste lo tenga que saber. Pon a esa persona en el trono del Señor y observa como va tomando lugar la curacíon. Alaba a Dios antes de pedir por el alivio y alábalo también después. Y por último prepárate a recibir el inmenso poder de Dios.

SIXTH DAY READ ALL OF THE COMMENTARY

JOB 7:1-4, 6-7

The Book of Job raises the same questions today as it did in his time. The question is: “Why does the just man suffer?” In the presence of God’s awesome power, Job remains speechless, simply because man is too weak and ignorant to comprehend the awesomeness of God. God wants man’s humility, not his pride and wisdom. Yet the standard Old Testament teaching at the time of Job was that sin was behind suffering, and virtue was behind happiness.

The story of Job is about a virtuous man who suffers tremendously. We see in Job’s comments a restlessness and frustration, but no denial of belief. As we read further in Job, we see a determination building in a faith that strives to believe in God’s loving concern for him despite all the appearances to the contrary.  Job was struggling and he even saw no hope of going on in his sickly condition, but he did not give up.

Today we are told that all things happen for the good of those who believe (Rom. 8:28), and we believe that in God’s timing, a virtuous person will be happy. Like Job, we need to humbly accept the divine order of God’s plan. In effect, we are a people who do not know the ultimate reason for the existence of suffering. You and I must have that same determination that Job had, and in God’s timing he will work with us, just like he did with Job (1 Peter 5:7).

We see in Job’s story a lesson for all of us, and that is that we will not grow without pain. We are told that suffering brings obedience (Hebrews 5:8) and obedience is the core of love. Jesus endured all of his suffering for us, and in his obedience he went to the cross for us. He then rose from the dead for us, so that all who believe in him would be free in Spirit with him forever.

 

1 CORINTHIANS 9:16-19, 22-23

In today’s reading we see that preaching was Paul’s gift and calling. He tells us that he could not stop preaching even if he wanted to stop. Like the two men on the road to Emmaus, there was a fire burning in Paul’s heart (Luke 24:32). He desired to do what God wanted and he would use his gifts for God’s glory. Have we realized what special gifts God has given us? Are we motivated like Paul? Is there a fire burning within our heart to glorify God with our gifts?

Paul is telling us that he is glad he is not held back by the obligation of being paid a salary. His freedom to preach freely allows him to be the slave of all, so that they may listen and come to Christ. We need to reflect on how much our job dictates how much we will exercise our faith. Are we able and ready to say that no job, no salary, or no peer pressure shall prevent me from preaching and living God’s Holy Word? The goal of Paul was to glorify God and bring people to Christ. Is our goal the same as Paul’s?

Paul shows us that we must be very much aware of where people are and then meet them right there. He does not try to make people be at a certain place before he brings them to Christ. Paul knew who he was and because of this, he was able to meet people on a common ground. We need to know who we are before we can go out to bring others to Christ.

You are the reason Jesus Christ died on the cross at Calvary. He loves you so much that he took all of your sins and had them nailed to the cross with him. He died so you could live forever. He rose so that you would be with him for all eternity. That is who you are, a very precious child of God, and anything else is a distortion. Because you are loved, you are now capable of loving others and bringing others to Christ. Like Paul, let the burning of fire in your heart send you forth to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19).

 

MARK 1:29-39

Today’s Gospel shows us the healing power of Jesus toward someone he knew and toward a whole town of people whom he did not know. Jesus touched Peter’s mother-in-law and she immediately became well and got up and began serving them. The impact of this event spread throughout the town and by sunset the area around Peter’s house was filled with the sick and demon-possessed. A large crowd watched while the sick were being healed.

Today Jesus heals as vividly as ever, but somehow it seems to be downplayed in our communities. Many people are afraid to ask Jesus for a healing because they are not sure that he will heal them. The people who flocked to Peter’s house were not afraid what others thought of their religious zeal. They knew that ritual and ceremony did not heal, but this incredible preacher of God did heal.

Today, in this world of high technology and education, there are many who seem to depend more on man’s ability to solve our deep inner emotional, physical and spiritual problems. Yet, the level of hunger, loneliness, disease, divorce, crime and violence seems to be as bad as it was at any other time in civilization.  Like Peter’s mother-in-law, we need to trust in Jesus for our healing, accept it, and go on in life.

We see Jesus getting up long before daybreak to pray alone. He needed his quiet time every morning and so do we. Jesus’ prayer time was the cornerstone of his authority. He was in constant prayer with his Father and from him he drew his strength. From whom do you draw your strength? If it is from people, programs, or religion, you will eventually become drained. We have been blessed to have the presence of Christ in our prayer time, sacraments, worship, Eucharist, and in our church through fellowship. Jesus said that he had to go on to other places to bring his message to the sick and demon-possessed. You are called by your baptism to do the very same thing (Matthew 28:19). You must always remember that prayer is the vital link between us and God. Jesus always took time to pray.

 

Application 

The first reading tells us that suffering is behind virtue as well as sin. The second reading reveals that our gifts and talents come from God. We see in the Gospel the importance of prayer in the life of Jesus.

This week, choose someone in your family or someone you know and become their unknown special prayer partner. Be specific and obedient in your prayer time. Place this person in the throne of the Lord and watch the healing that will take place. Praise God before your requests for healing and praise him afterward. Then get ready to experience God’s mighty power.

Lectio Divina – Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time (January 31st) – Cycle B

PURPOSE OF THIS SCRIPTURE READING – Develop a personal relationship with Jesus through the Word of God with the understanding that the Holy Spirit will teach and remind us of all Jesus said and did. Psalm 32:8 tells us, “I will instruct you and show you the way you should walk, give you counsel and watch over you.”

  1. Say the opening prayer.
  2. Read the passage slowly three times as though Jesus were talking to you.
  3. Converse with Jesus, asking questions and listening to Him.

OPEN WITH THE FOLLOWING PRAYER:

Father, I can’t understand Your Word without Your grace, I acknowledge my weakness so Your power can reach perfection in me. Send Your Holy Spirit to remind, teach, and guide me to the Truth. May I share as soon as possible whatever You teach me. AMEN

Mark 1:21-28 – Then they came to Capernaum, and on the Sabbath Jesus entered the synagogue and taught. The people were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes. In their synagogue was a man with an unclean spirit; he cried out, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are – the Holy One of God!” Jesus rebuked him and said, “Quiet! Come out of him!” The unclean spirit convulsed him and with a loud cry came out of him. SEXTO DIA LEE TODO EL COMENTARIO

DEUTERONOMIO 18:15-20

La lectura de hoy nos muestra que la venida de Jesucristo como el “Mesías” no fue un pensamiento posterior de Dios sino Su Santo plan original. La gente tenia mucho miedo de oir hablar a Dios o de verlo. Temian que Su presencia fuera tan abrumadora que hiciera morir a todos. Querian alguien que fuera humano que pudiera hablar por Dios y por eso Moisés fue su profeta. Nosotros tenemos profetas que proclaman la santa palabra de Dios en todo el mundo. Algunos de ellos han abusado de la iglesia, del pueblo y aun hasta de Dios con su conducta pecaminosa. Dios nos pide que demos de comer al hambriento, morada al que no la tiene, alivio al enfermo y que visitemos al que este en prision.

Algunos de los profetas de nuestro mundo moderno han tomado imnensas cantidades de dinero a traves de la televisión, los libros, los casettes y sus apariciones en público. Estos falsos profetas hablan de pobreza pero visten como reyes y reinas y viven en casas que son mas bien mansiones. El castigo para los falsos profetas era la muerte. Hoy dia sigue siendo la muerte porque el salario del pecado es la muerte (Romanos 6:23).

El Señor dice al profeta que debe ser un hombre obediente y que la gente lo escuchará. La gente responde al líder que es obediente y que escucha a Dios y lo sigue en su camino por la vida.

Pablo nos dice que él predicó únicamente el mensaje de la cruz y que Moises fue mandado para decir a la gente que Dios le habia dado los Diez Mandamientos que debian de seguir. Rechazar al profeta era rechazar a Cristo y el Padre trataría severamente a aquel que estuviera en contra de Su Hijo. Rechazar la iglesia que nos enseña la Liturgia de la Palabra y la de la Eucaristia sería rechazar a Cristo. El Padre nos tratará hoy tan severamente como lo hizo con la gente de los tiempos de Moisés. Recuerda que puedes reconocer al profeta falso por sus acciones no por sus palabras.

 

1 CORINTIOS 7:32-35

En la lectura de hoy debemos tener el cuidado de no pensar que Pablo está en contra del matrimonio. Solo trata de demostrar que el matrimonio pide comprometerse con Dios, el uno con el otro y con la familia. Lo que Pablo señala es que es más fácil para una persona soltera dedicarse por completo a Dios.

Mucha gente soltera siente una gran presión hacia casarse. Piensan que sus vidas no seran completas sin un esposo o esposa. Pablo dice que una persona soltera tiene todo su potencial para dedicarse plenamente a Cristo y Su trabajo. Si eres soltero usa esta oportunidad especial para servir a Cristo con todo tu corazón.

Del potencial que Pablo habla es del que se usaria para dedicar mas tiempo a solas con El Señor. Seas soltero o casado el meollo de tu espiritualidad será tu vida de oración con El Señor. Esto toma su tiempo y debe ser un tiempo de primera, no nada mas cuando es conveniente. Hay muchos libros de cómo hacer oración pero ninguno tendrá mucho sentido a menos que tomes tiempo a solas dedicado unicamente al Señor. Lo que hace a una persona espiritual, sea casada o soltera es el tomar tiempo para leer, meditar las escrituras, y luego escuchar lo que El Señor le diga.

Cuando los hombres o mujeres casados desarrollan su amor a Jesus diariamente encuentran que ese amor se continúa en su matrimonio. Cuando se trate de hombres o mujeres solteros ese amor dado a diario a Jesús los llevará como Cristo mismo lo hizo a amar al que es dificil amar, a besar al imbesable, a limpiar al demasiado sucio y donde quiera que vayan llevaran el regalo del amor con ellos simplemente por que ellos son amados.

 

MARCOS 1:21-28

Cafarnaún era una cuidad floreciente con riquezas, decadencia y pecado. Y fue un lugar ideal para que Jesús desafiara a los Judios y los no-Judios con las Buenas Nuevas del Reino de Dios. La mayoria de los maestros judios citaban con frecuencia a los maestros muy conocidos con el objeto de dar autoridad y sentido a sus palabras. Jesús no lo hizo porque El supo exactamente cual Escritura debia citar. El enseñó con autoridad por que sabia de donde venia la real autoridad. La gente se sorprendia de la fuerza que habia en Sus enseñanzas y aun cuando se enfrenta a un demonio le ordena salir con una total autoridad. Jesús tenia autoridad absoluta por que El obedecia totalmente a la voluntad de Su Padre. Su autoridad no venia de la ley o los Escribas, Su autoridad venia de hacer la voluntad de su Padre.

Jesús nos dice en el relato de Marta y Maria que Maria tenia el mejor don, a sea el don de escuchar. Jesús podia demandar autoridad pues El escuchaba y respetaba la autoridad de Su Padre Celestial. El quiere que usemos Su autoridad siempre que nos hallemos frente a espiritus malignos o situaciones corruptas. Nosotros podemos tener acceso a esa autoridad siempre y cuando estemos haciendo la voluntad de Su Padre.

La iglesia ordena con la autoridad de Jesús debido a Su promesa y mandato que se encuentra en Mateo 16:18- 19. “Pedro tu eres roca y sobre esta roca construiré Mi iglesia y las leyes de la muerte no prevalecerán contra élla. Lo que declares atado en la tierra será atado en el cielo.” Tu y yo tenemos autoridad cuando en el nombre de Jesús le decimos a la montaña que vaya al mar o cuando echamos fuera los demonios, o cuando sanamos al enfermo, o cuando damos vista al ciego. Tenemos esa autoridad cuando hablamos en Su Nombre y con el poder del Espíritu Santo.

 

Aplicación

La primera lectura de esta semana revela como los profetas escuchaban. La segunda nos invita a pasar mas tiempo con el Señor. El Evangelio muestra la autoridad y la fuerza de las enseñanzas de Jesús.

Esta semana escucha a los que están a tu alrededor y date cuenta quien tiene verdadera necesidad de alivio espiritual. Toma un tiempo cada dia para presentar esta persona al Señor y en Su Nombre y bajo el poder del Espíritu Santo habla de alivio para esa persona. La autoridad de Jesús llegará a traves de tí y traerá alivio fisico, emocional y espiritual. Mantente haciendo la voluntad del Padre, siendo obediente al mandato de Jesús, “Amense los unos a los otros como Yo los he amado”(Juan 15:12). Tendrás la autoridad de Cristo por que El quiere que tú tengas todo lo que es bueno en Su Nombre.

SIXTH DAY READ ALL OF THE COMMENTARY

DEUTERONOMY 18:15-20

Today’s reading shows that the coming of Jesus Christ as the “Messiah” was not an afterthought, but part of God’s original holy plan. The people were afraid to hear God talk or even to see him. They were afraid his presence would be so overpowering, that they all would die. They wanted someone human who could speak for God and so Moses was their prophet. Today we have prophets who proclaim God’s holy Word all over the world and some of the prophets have abused the church, the people, and even God with their sinful conduct. God has called us to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, heal the sick, and visit the imprisoned.

Some of our modern day prophets have taken tremendous amounts of money through television, books, tapes, and special appearances. These false prophets talk about poverty but dress like kings and queens and live in homes that are mansions. The penalty for false prophets was death. Today that penalty is still death, because the wages of sin are death (Romans 6:23).

We hear the Lord telling the prophet to be a man of obedience and the people will listen to him. People respond to the leader who listens and is obedient to God in his own walk of life.

Paul tells us that he only preached the message of the cross, and Moses was told to tell the people that God had given him Ten Commandments for them to follow. To reject the prophet was to reject Christ and the Father would deal severely with anyone who is against his Son. To reject the church as it teaches to us in the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist would be to reject Christ. The Father will deal with us today just as severely as he did with the people of Moses’ time. Remember, you can tell a false prophet by his deeds, not his words.

 

1 CORINTHIANS 7:32-35

In today’s reading, we have to be very careful that we do not think that Paul is against marriage. He is trying to show that marriage calls for a commitment to God, to each other, and to family. Paul tells us that it is easier for unmarried persons to devote themselves more completely to God than for married persons to do so.

Many single people feel tremendous pressure to be married. Many think that their lives can be complete only with a spouse. Paul is saying that an unmarried person has the potential of a greater focus on Christ and his work. If you are unmarried, use your special opportunity to serve Christ wholeheartedly.

Paul is talking about the potential of more time alone with God for the unmarried. Whether you are married or unmarried, the core of your spirituality will be your prayer life with the Lord. This will take time and it has to be prime time, not spare time. There are many books on how to pray, but none of the material makes sense unless you spend time personally alone with the Lord. Spending time reading, meditating on scripture, and then listening to the Lord is what makes the unmarried or married person spiritual. When married men or women have developed a love affair with Jesus on a daily basis, they will find that love affair being carried over into their marriage. When unmarried men or women develop a love affair with Jesus on a daily basis, they will then, like Christ, love the unlovable, kiss the unkissable, wash the unwashable; wherever they go they will bring the gift of love with them, simply because they are loved.

 

MARK 1:21-28

Capernaum was a thriving city with wealth, sin and decadence. This was an ideal place for Jesus to challenge both Jews and non-Jews with the Good News of God’s kingdom. Most Jewish teachers often quoted from other well-known teachers to give their words meaning and authority. Jesus did not do that, because he knew exactly what scripture said and meant. He taught with authority, because he knew the source of his real authority. The people were amazed at the power of his teaching and even when he was confronted by the demon, he ordered him out with total authority. Jesus was in full authority, because he was in full obedience to his Father’s will. His authority was not from the Law, or the scribes; his authority came from doing his Father’s will and being one God with the Father.

Jesus tells us in the story of Martha and Mary that Mary has the best gift and that gift is the art of listening. Jesus could command authority because he listened and respected the authority of his heavenly Father. He wants us to call on his authority whenever we are confronted by evil spirits of evil situations. We can always have access to his authority as long as we are doing the will of his Father.

The Church commands with the authority of Jesus, because of his promise and command in Matthew 16:18-19: “You are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” We can call on that authority in Jesus’ name, and through the power of the Holy Spirit, tell that mountain to go into the sea, cast out demons, heal the sick, or give sight to the blind.

 

Application

This week’s first reading reveals how the prophets listened. The second reading encourages time to be spent with the Lord. The Gospel shows the authority and power in Jesus’ teachings.

This week, listen to those around you and see who is in deep need of spiritual healing. Take time each day to present this person to the Lord, and in Jesus’ name and through the power of his Holy Spirit, seek healing for that person. Jesus’ authority will reach through you and bring a healing physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Stay in the Father’s will by being obedient to Jesus’ command to “Love one another as I love you.” (John 15:12)

Lectio Divina – Third Sunday in Ordinary Time (January 24th) – Cycle B

PURPOSE OF THIS SCRIPTURE READING – Develop a personal relationship with Jesus through the Word of God with the understanding that the Holy Spirit will teach and remind us of all Jesus said and did. Psalm 32:8 tells us, “I will instruct you and show you the way you should walk, give you counsel and watch over you.”

  1. Say the opening prayer.
  2. Read the passage slowly three times as though Jesus were talking to you.
  3. Converse with Jesus, asking questions and listening to Him.

OPEN WITH THE FOLLOWING PRAYER:

Father, I can’t understand Your Word without Your grace, I acknowledge my weakness so Your power can reach perfection in me. Send Your Holy Spirit to remind, teach, and guide me to the Truth. May I share as soon as possible whatever You teach me. AMEN

SEXTO DIA LEE TODO EL COMENTARIO

JONAS 3:1-5, 10

Jonás, así como mucha gente de hoy y de su tiempo, ignoró a Dios y se rebeló contra El. Jonás, otra vez asi como muchos de nosotros, huyó de Dios, pero también como a nosotros, a él se le dio una segunda oportunidad de participar en la obra de Dios.

Cuando ignoramos a Dios, El nos disciplinara, pero El siempre ofrecerá compasión y perdón si nos alejamos de nuestros pecados y le obedecemos. A causa de nuestros errores pasados podremos sentir que ya no tenemos la habilidad o capacidad para servir a Dios. Pero recuerda, el servicio a Dios no es una posición que se gana. No hay una sola persona viviente en esta tierra que califique para servir a Dios. Sin embargo, El nos pide a cada uno de nosotros, ser parte de Su obra. Esta puede ser tu hora para otra oportunidad.

Jonás debía predicar solo lo que Dios le dijo, y este era un mensaje de destrucción a la ciudad mas poderosa del mundo. El no quería este encargo pero finalmente habló y no permitió que la sociedad, presiones sociales o miedo a la gente dictarán sus palabras.

Somos llamados a predicar el mensaje de Dios no importa cuan impopular este sea. El mensaje de Dios, entonces como hoy, es para todos. La gente de Nínive se sobresaltó al oir el mensaje de Dios y ellos se arrepientieron inmediatamente. Necesitamos comprender que hay mucha gente que está esperando oir la Palabra de Dios proclamada. Somos llamados a ser el Jonás de hoy. Te sorprenderá cuando la gente se confiese y se arrepienta tal como hicieron en Nínive. Recuerda no es el que oigan la Palabra de Dios lo que agrada a El, sino la reacción obediente a la misma.

 

1 CORINTIOS 7:29-31

Pablo dice a la gente que el tiempo se hace corto y que el futuro de ellos es determinado por lo que les interesa en el presente. El urge a todos los creyentes de mantenerse libres de las trampas del mundo y de estar a disponibilidad del Señor. La lección dada aquí es la de no dejar que casas, seguridad financiaria y aun un matrimonio afortunado sean la meta fundamental de la vida.  Debemos mantenernos intocables por las preocupaciones del mundo. No debemos hecharnos encima hipotecas, presupuestos, inversiones o cuentas que nos impidan hacer las obras de Dios.

Pablo nos dice que un hombre casado debe pensar sobre sus responabilidades terrestres, pero que debe tener cuidado de mantenerlas modestas y administrables. La hora de salvación es ahora y esto quiere decir que nuestra primordial razón de vida es la de traer gloria a Dios. El mundo y todas sus cosas pasaran, pero tu que crees en Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, vivirás por siempre (1 Juan 2:17). Tu no te puedes llamar creyente si tus acciones no producen el fruto del Espíritu Santo (Gal. 5:22-23). Somos llamados a morir a nosotros mismos y centrarnos en Cristo en lugar de centrarse en uno mismo.

Debemos vivir para servir a otros en vez de esperar que otros nos sirvan. Una persona centrada en Cristo experimenta una nueva realidad de amor. Amar es dar, no recibir. Nuestro conyuge vivirá con esperanza y alegría cuando nosotros estemes centrados en Cristo Nuestros hijos nos honraran y respetarán así tambien.  Estar centrado en Cristo es plenitud de vida. Centrarse en uno mismo es estar muerto. Recuerda, hoy es la hora de salvación y esto quiere decir centrarse en Cristo.

MARCOS 1:14-20

Jesús proclamaba las Buenas Nuevas a aquéllos en Galilea y estas Buenas Nuevas habrían de cambiar el mundo para siempre. Sus palabras fueron Buenas Nuevas porque ofrecieron libertad, bendiciones y promesas. Al fin, el tan esperado Mesías había llegado para comenzar el reino personal de Dios en la tierra.

¿Creemos verdaderamente que el reino de Dios está a la mano? ¿Creemos que Dios está ahora presente y que observa y permite dolor, enfermedades y muerte de gente inocente sobre toda la tierra? Necesitamos tomar este mensaje realmente en nuestros corazones, porque el centro de este mensaje es que El está con nosotros y El nunca nos abandonará no importa que difícil sea la situación. La parte siguiente de este mensaje resultó muy incomodo para mucha gente en aquel entonces y continua siendo incómodo para mucha gente de hoy. Reformar quiere decir cambiar y cambiar quiere decir rescindir nuestro poder. Gente que quiere cambiar es gente que está sufriendo, sea física, emocional a aún espiritualmente.

Jesús nos dice que creamos en el Evangelio y esto quiere decir arrepentirse. La mayoría de la gente que oyó este mensaje eran los oprimidos, pobres y sin esperanzas. Les estremeció que al fin su Mesías estaba presente en sus vidas. Hoy hay mucha gente que está todavía oprimida, pobre y sin esperanzas y el reino de Dios está aún a la mano. El mensaje de reformarse y creer en el Evangelio es un mensaje que viene de un Dios de amor y justicia. El perdonará a todos aquellos que se acercan piadosamente doloridos, porque ese dolor les conduce al arrepentimiento (2 Cor. 7:9-10). El odia al pecado y no mira para otro lado mientras uno está pecando, porque él es un Dios justo.

Mirémonos, cada uno de nosotros, dentro de nuestros corazones y digamos: “Padre, pequé contra Dios y contra ti; ya no merezco llamarme hijo tuyo.” (Lucas 15:18-19). Recuerda que el amor de Dios es constante y espera. El nos buscará y nos dará oportunidades de responderle, pero El no nos forzará a venir a Su reino.

 

Aplicación

En la primera lectura estamos llamados a proclamar el mensaje de Dios no importa lo impopular que esto sea.  La segunda lectura revela que el tiempo de salvación es ahora y estamos llamados a centrarnos en Cristo en vez de centrarnos en nosotros mismos.  El Evangelio nos muestra que creer es arrepentirse y arrepentirse es hacerse libre.

Esta semana busca dentro de tu familia, escuela y trabajo y vé dónde necesitas arrepentirte. Uno oprimido, solitario y sin esperanza puede ser alguien que está muy cerca. Pide a Dios te revele de qué necesitas arrepentirse y entonces ve a esa persona con fe y pídele su perdón. Puede ser también que eres tu el que tiene que perdonar a alguien para que ellos también se vean libres y llenos de esperanzas otra vez.

SIXTH DAY READ ALL OF THE COMMENTARY

JONAH 3:1-5, 10

Jonah, like many people today and of his time, had ignored God and rebelled against him. Jonah, again like many of us, ran away from God, but also like us, he was given a second chance to participate in God’s work.

When we ignore God, he will discipline us, but he will always offer compassion and forgiveness if we turn from our sins and obey him. We may feel we are no longer able to qualify to serve God because of our past mistakes, but remember, that serving God is not an earned position. There is not one single living person on this earth that qualifies for God’s service. Yet, he asks each of us to be a part of his work. This may be your time for another chance.

Jonah was to preach only what God told him, and that was a message of doom to the most powerful city in the world. He did not want this assignment, but he finally spoke out and did not let society, social pressures, or fear of people dictate his words.

We are called to preach God’s message no matter how unpopular it may be. God’s message, then and today, is for everyone. The people of Nineveh were shocked when they heard God’s message, and they repented immediately. We need to realize that there are many people waiting to hear God’s word proclaimed. We are called to be today’s Jonah. You will be surprised when people confess and repent, just like they did at Nineveh. Remember, it is not the hearing of God’s word that really pleases him, but an obedient response to it.

 

I CORINTHIANS 7:29-31

Paul tells the people that time is short, and their future is determined by their present interests. He is urging all believers to stay free from the trappings of the world and to be available to the Lord. The lesson given here is not to let homes, financial security and even a successful marriage be the ultimate goal of life for all ages. We must be unhindered by the cares of the world. We should not be getting involved with mortgages, budgets, investments or bills that will prevent us from doing God’s work.

Paul tells us that a married man has to think about his earthly responsibilities, but he should be careful to keep them modest and manageable. The time of salvation is now, and that means that our primary reason for living is to bring glory to God. The world and all its things will pass away, but we who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ will endure forever (1 John 2:17). We cannot call ourselves believers if our actions do not bear Fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23). We are called to die to ourselves and become Christ-centered instead of self-centered.

We are to live to serve others instead of waiting for someone to serve us. A Christ-centered person experiences a new meaning of love. Love is giving, not taking. Our spouse will come alive with hope and joy as we become Christ-centered. Our children will come to honor and respect us as we become Christ-centered. To be Christ-centered is to be fully alive. To be self-centered is to be dead. Remember, today is the time of salvation and that means being Christ-centered.

 

MARK 1:14-20

Jesus proclaimed the Good News to those in Galilee, and this Good News would change the world forever. His words were Good News because they offered freedom, blessings and promise. At last the long-awaited Messiah had come to begin God’s personal reign on earth.

Do we really believe that the reign of God is at hand? Do we believe that God is present now and observes and allows pain, sickness and death to innocent people all over the earth? We need to take this message really into our heart, because the core of this message is that he is with us and he will never leave us, no matter how difficult the situation may be. The next part of that message was very uncomfortable for many people then and continues to be uncomfortable for many people today. To reform means to change and to change means to give up our power. People who want to change are people who are hurting, whether physically, emotionally, or even spiritually.

Jesus tells us to believe in the Gospel and that means to repent. Most of the people who heard this message were oppressed, poor and without hope. They were thrilled that their Messiah was at last present in their lives. Today many people are still oppressed, poor and without hope and the reign of God is still at hand. The message to reform and believe in the Gospel is a message from a God of love and justice. He will forgive all those who come forth in Godly sorrow because that sorrow leads to repentance (2 Corinthians 7:9-10). He hates sin and will not look the other way while one is sinning because he is a just God.

Let each one of us look into our heart and say, “Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your child.” (Luke 15:18-19) Remember, God’s love is constant and waiting. He will search for us and give us chances to respond, but he will not force us to come into his kingdom.

 

Application

In the first reading we are called to preach God’s message no matter how unpopular it may be. The second reading reveals that the time of salvation is now and we are called to be Christ centered instead of self centered. The Gospel shows us that to believe is to repent, and to repent is to become free.

This week, look around in your family, school, and work and see where you may need to repent. An oppressed, lonely, and helpless one may be someone who is very close to you. Ask God to reveal to you where you need to repent, and then go to that person in faith and ask his or her forgiveness.

SEXTO DIA LEE TODO EL COMENTARIO

1 SAMUEL 3:3-10, 19

El arca de la Alianza se guardaba en el Santo Templo. Probablemente Samuel dormia a unos cuantos metros de donde estaba el Arca, con otros de los sacerdotes. Naturalmente uno esperaria que un mensaje de Dios seria dado al Sacerdote Helí y no al joven Samuel. Helí tenia el puesto apropiado, era mas viejo y con mas experiencia. Pero la cadena de mando de Dios esta basada en la Fe. Su punto de vista de lo que es autoridad no se basa en titulos o edades.

Dios puede decidir usar un canal inesperado para comunicarse contigo. Debemos estar siempre preparados por si el Señor nos habla o nos trabaja en donde El quiera, en cualquier momento y a través de cualquiera que El escoja.

Esta era una época en la que Dios todavía daba mensajes directos y que podían ser escuchados por el oído de Su pueblo. Hoy día hay quien se niega a escuchar a Dios o quien permite a la avaricia obstaculizar cualquier comunicación con El. Debes estar absolutamente convencido de que escuchar y responder es vital en la relación con Dios. Puede ser que Dios no siempre use el sonido de una voz humana; El habla muy claramente como antes a través de Su Palabra. Está listo a escuchar y a actuar de acuerdo a lo que El te diga. Como Samuel, estate listo para decir, “Habla Señor, tu siervo está escuchando.

El sonido del mundo de hoy quiere acallar el sonido de la voz de Dios llamándote. Escucha, escucha, escucha. Disciplínate a ti mismo para tener tiempo a solas con el Señor cada mañana. Puedes prepararte para oir el llamado de Dios durante tu tiempo diario que usas para orar, con la Escritura diaria y con el tiempo de estudio. En poco tiempo tu disciplina se cambiará en tu deleite.

 

1 CORINTIOS 6:13-15, 17-20

Muchas de las religiones del mundo creen que el alma es muy importante y el cuerpo no. A veces los Cristianos parece que sienten esta influencia. Sin embargo el Cristianismo es una religión muy física. Creemos en un Dios quien creo un mundo físico y lo llamó bueno. El meollo de tu fe es Dios mismo tomando cuerpo y sangre y viniendo a vivir con nosotros (Juan 1:14). Recordemos que como Adán somos una combinacion de polvo y espíritu. No podemos cometer pecados con nuestro cuerpo sin afectar a nuestras almas.

La libertad es una marca de la fe Cristiana. Cristo nos ha liberado de las garras de Satanás. No abusemos de esa libertad con excesos en la bebida o en la comida (glotonería) ni con el uso de las drogas. Tengamos mucho cuidado con lo que Dios nos permite usar y que eso no crezca en un mal hábito que nos controle.

Pablo se refiere a los pecados del cuerpo diciendo que el pecado sexual es una tentación que no podemos escapar. En las películas, televisión, libros o revistas el sexo fuera del matrimonio es tratado como algo normal, deseable, parte de la vida y presentan al matrimonio como algo muy limitado y sin alegría. Dios no prohibió el pecado sexual únicamente para hacérnoslo difícil. El pecado sexual ha devastado innumerables vidas y destruído familias, comunidades y hasta naciones.

Pablo establece claramente en la lectura de hoy, y la iglesia de hoy tambíen está de acuerdo en que los Cristianos no deben tener parte en el pecado sexual aun cuando es aceptado y popular en nuestra cultura. Nunca olvidemos que el pecado contra nuestro cuerpo es un pecado contra el Espíritu Santo, ya que a través de nuestro Bautizo hemos sido convertidos en templos del Espíritu Santo (1 Cor. 6:19). El pecado sexual de homosexualidad, de fornicación, prostitución y adulterio es un pecado contra la habitación del Espíritu Santo.

Recuerda que Dios te ha comprado a gran precio y usa cada parte de tu cuerpo para darle gloria a Dios pues El es el dueño (1 Cor. 6:20). Si estás atrapado en la vorágine de un pecado sexual toma un momento ahora y pidele a Dios que te perdone. Ve a un sacerdote y recibe el alivio de reconciliarte con Dios y con la comunidad. Vive el camino de Dios día a día y El te ensañará lo que debes hacer. Jesús te ama demasiado para dejarte a donde estás ahora.

 

JUAN 1:35-42

El quehacer de Juan el Bautista fue señalar a Jesús para que supieran que El era el Mesías, aquél que ellos estaban buscando. Hoy dia vemos gente en todo el mundo que anda buscando seguridad y paz en un mundo muy inseguro. Nuestro quehacer es señalarles a Cristo y mostrarles que es El al que buscan.

Cuando Jesús iba pasando, Juan estaba con sus dos discípulos y dijo, “Ahí está el Cordero de Dios.” Los dos discípulos comenzaron a seguir a Jesús y El les dijo; ¿Qué quieren?”, esa es la misma pregunta que Jesús y el mundo te hacen hoy día. Jesús dice “Ven y ve” y el mundo te dice lo mismo. Jesús te ofrece vida y libertad, el mundo te ofrece muerte y destrucción.

Los discípulos conocieron y apreciaron a Jesús más y más a medida que pasaban mas tiempo con El. Jesus les dice que si realmente lo quieren seguir tomen su cruz cada día y sigan sus huellas. Ellos no tenían idea de que esas huellas guiaban hacia el calvario. Tu debes hacer lo mismo y tal vez Sus huellas te lleven hacia el rechazo, el ridículo y hasta es posible a la perdida de tu vida física. Recordemos siempre que cuando escogemos seguirlo a El, escogemos morir a nosotros mismos y vivir para otros.

Andrés estaba tan impresionado con Jesús que corrió a su casa y dijo a su hermano Pedro, “Hemos encontrado al Mesías.” Con qué confianza y esperanza guió Andrés a su hermano Pedro hacia Jesús. Eso es lo que tú tienes que hacer hoy. Guía a otros hacia Jesús y muestrales con tu vida que la conversión hacia Jesús es un cambio de vida. El Evangelio de hoy es acerca de la alegría, la emoción y la fuerza al descubrir al Mesías. Estamos llamados a esparcir esa alegría y emoción a todos los que encontremos. Con presteza carguemos nuestra cruz cada día y sigámoslo por que El la va cargando por nosotros y El nos va guiando hacia la libertad eterna.

 

Aplicación

En la primera lectura oímos a Dios llamando a Su servidor. En la segunda Pablo nos dice que el pecado sexual es un pecado contra el Templo del Espíritu Santo. El Evangelio nos muestra que debemos ir y señalar a Jesús a otros.

Esta semana toma un tiempo a solas y escucha lo que el Señor tiene que decirte a ti. Dile a alguien de tu familia que haga lo mismo. Reúnanse y compartan lo que el Señor les dice. Recuerda, no puedes traer a nadie hacia Jesús si no sabes como escuchar Sus instrucciones.
